Hair Rx

I've been searching high and low for some hair therapy. I've posted previously about my struggles with dry and ugly hair. When the whole Keratin wave hit stores, it didn't take long for me to join the curious bunch. I've had a Keratin Treatment and I've tried  various Keratin products. Most recently, I tried out the Keratin line by Organix. Prior to trying these products, I was using the Morrocon Oil line by the same brand. Its the products in the Teal Blue bottles. I liked it enough to keep trying their other lines.

Considering that everyone's hair is different in texture, I can only speak for myself. I noticed a difference in how much softer my hair is with this shampoo and conditioner combo. The shampoo doesn't lather as much as other brands, but that's what makes your hair prone to more damage. The lather in shampoo contains so many chemicals that dry your hair out. So, if you're like me and feel that your hair is not getting clean without the suds, let me tell you, its not true.

Currently, I'm using the shampoo, conditioner, and I apply the Oil to treat my dry hair. I will be getting a haircut in about 3 weeks. There is no other remedy for dry and split ends other than cutting them. I'm undecided how much to take off. I wanted to grow my hair out long but there is nothing uglier than damaged long scraggly hair. So, A cutting we will go.

In order for my hair to look half decent, I must style it to camouflage its ugliness. I've been wearing it in waves lately.

Iphone Make Over

I purchased this new little housing unit for my beloved Iphone yesterday. I love it so much. I love looking at  my phone often for all the pretty girly colors. It makes my phone feel that much more special.

Hola Mexico

A Mexican Film Festival is coming to town and I'm excited to see at least one of these films. I like supporting the Arts when I can. There's something about Independent films. They "feel" special and unique. Going through the schedule, there are so many good films and documentaries to choose from. If you are at all interested, I'd like to share with you that you can get an all access pass to view all the films for just $50 except for Opening Night on www.latimes.com in the Deals in LA section. I'll be attending for sure. Here is the direct link to the festival's site. http://holamexicoff.com/

Act Like a Lady, Think like a Man

I watched this movie Sunday night. Apparently, it was #1 on the Box Office for about 3 weeks. Coincidentally, today, I received an email for my Nook with today's pick. To my surprise, it was  the book that this movie is based on. I purchased it because for $1.99, I can definitely use some good laughs but also, peek into the Male's mind.

Whether you believe any of this silliness, "Rules", that's up to you. I find them interesting. I believe that we all play mind games and live by certain "rules". As much as we say we don't, we're guilty of it. I am.

I started thinking about my own life and if I live by any of these rules described in the book and if they really work or help you get what you want out of life? If women started to think like Men, would that help us or hinder us? I'm going to say that the reason why I am truly happy at this moment in my life is because I have taken a walk on the dark side. I have started to think about things differently and some of it dangerously mirrors a male's perspective. Small example. I had a dream two nights ago that I was married. I don't want a relationship at this moment in life. I don't see myself wanting one any time soon, and soon is like 100 years from now, I don't see marriage as I once did, like a lady. So instead of waking up with a big grin on my face, the "nightmare" literally woke me up in a panic. Typical dude. Petrified of commitment.

Without divulging too much of the movie or book which I must read, ask yourself, if you acted like a lady, but thought like a man, where would that get you? Do you think your life would be easier and if so, how?

Would you advance in your career more? Statistically, dudes get paid more for doing the same job. Would you have more non committed relationship and be considered a stud over a whore? So many possibilities to think about.

New Skin

I've always been a strong believer that time heals everything. Around 2 years ago, I was fairly unhappy in a situation that literally took my sunshine away. Fast forward, I couldn't be happier and so comfortable with myself. I live everyday doing something that truly fulfills me. I remember being 29 going on 30, dreading the Big "30". I wasn't where I envisioned myself. I applied so much pressure to myself and now looking back on things, I say to myself, what an idiot!

I get these little bursts of joy through out my days just thinking about how truly comfortable I am in my own skin at this point in my life. I almost want to pinch myself cause it feels too good to believe its true. Accepting life's curve balls and carving out a new path for myself has made me so much happier and content. There are so many contributing factors to being truly happy. I could probably write a whole book about it but I have to say, you have to want to be in a good place, you must surround yourself with people who love you, are positive influences, and do something daily that truly feeds your soul.

Life is difficult but it doesn't have to be miserable. We have more control over our state of being than we realize or give ourselves credit for. I've cruised pretty well through life. Have dealt with obstacles fairly well but I never thought I'd be this comfortable with who I am today. I get it now when Adults say they are more secure and happier at their mature age of call it 45, and would never want to be a teenager again. I get it.

We're here for a good time, not a long time. Live in the Good Times.

Maui Babe

This is Hawaii's best kept secret. The BEST tanning lotion ever created. My girlfriends and I discovered this fast acting, very effective tanning lotion back in 2007 on a trip to Waikiki. I vowed to never share it with anyone cause I wanted it to be my little secret. Up until last year, I was under the impression that you could only get this in Hawaii since I had never seen it here in Cali. Well, I bumped into a convenient store chain called ABC here in our back yard, in Downtown Las Vegas that normally you find on every street corner in Hawaii.

Before leaving Maui, I bought six bottles of this magic stuff like a paranoid freak that I'd never get my hands on it again and still, thinking it was a hidden gem. Come to find out, its been sold at Sport Chalet's. So, my word of advice is, if you run into this product in Vegas or any Sport Chalet's, grab it. You will have an amazing tan in no time.

New Nail Art

Not sure if you girls have heard, but Ombre is the new thing everywhere. Ombre Hair, Ombre Nails. The hair I am not completely sold on. It looks to me as if you need a dye job asap!! The kind where you are calling your hair stylist and begging her to squeeze you in for a root touch up. I think I'll stick to one tone for now. Actually, that is one of my biggest pet peeves. I cannot stand seeing girls or women with roots down to their ears. It shouldn't have any impact on me since I'm not rocking the "i don't have 20 minutes in my life to fix this hot mess on my head" look but something about it just annoys me. I almost want to hand out box hair dye to some. I'll even apply it. My thing is, if you're gonna dye your hair, maintain it. If not, stick to natural.

Ombre nails on the other hand, I'm in LOVE with this idea. Its so cool and totally different. Its bringing tye die into the modern world.
Here are some pics of some color combinations I've seen lately. I can't wait to try it out.

It is the easiest manicure to do ever. If you are interested in this new nail trend, I'll teach you how to do it. It will be so much fun coming up with different color combinations. Especially with the amount of polish I have in my collection. I'll be putting combos together until I get sick of it.

Hawaii

My mini vacay was short and sweet. A little too short but definitely nice. I ate some island food, attended a Luau, the wedding I specifically went to Maui for was beautiful.  I drank some good pineapple wine,  baked in the sun and overall had a good time. I am an advocate for refueling your batteries and the great thing is, my Boss is too.

I stayed up until 1:00am last night uploading pics to share with the wedding party but also with you and I have to say, I'm very frustrated this morning. I went online to my account to view my photos and start sharing them and they have mysteriously vanished. Technology, can't live without it yet it gets my blood boiling sometimes. So, until I upload again, here's a little snapshot of my view every morning.

Ray's

Since I'll be exposing my little eyes to lots of harmful UV rays next week, I considered being good to them and protecting them. I don't wear sunglasses for the simple fact that I have a hard time seeing as it is with my -3.0 near sight vision. Wearing shades just darkens my vision even more and them I'm really in trouble. I know they make prescription lenses for sunglasses so I inquired about them. I picked out a pair but because my prescription would require thicker lenses than the ones ideal for the frames I picked out, Aviator Raybans, they have to send them off to get the prescription put in at Rayban's Lab instead of having them done by my Optometrist's in house lab in an hour. Its going to take about 2 weeks.

So, as a back up,  I picked these out. Raybans as well. Considering I don't wear shades myself, its weird that I know exactly what I would like to wear in the event that I do end up buying a pair or two. Something about Raybans screams classic. They bring fond memories to my sister and I. My brother's Dad rocked them all the time and we thought he looked so cool. I want to look cool too.

Loving my New T-Shirt

It fits me perfectly, and I don't mean the size of it. I love my culture.
