Geared Up for the Big "D"

I'm on my way to Dallas for a week. Work assignment. I love traveling whether its for work or pleasure. One thing I don't look forward to so much is packing. It drives me insane to have to plan out a week's worth of outfits, accessories, shoes, hair tools, make up to go with different outfits, and  "just in case" items. Basically, everything I own except the kitchen sink. The weather in Dallas is a lot colder than the Cool LA days I'm used to so I'll have to pack extras. Forget thinking I was going to carry on my luggage which is what I like to do. Checking in my bags is so  nerve wracking. I always fear my precious belongings ending up on the other side of the world without me. That's why, I started packing a quick change of clothes in my purse. I travel with big purses.

What are some of your travel necessities when you're 30,000 ft Up In the Air?

Power Lunch

Happy Friday! Did a little bit of retail thereapy during my lunch break. I was on the hunt for a blush toned blazer to go with some work outfits for next week. I also picked up the latest buzz on the blush scene, Hervana by Benefit. Swatched on my hand, it looks so beautiful. Its the perfect subtle pink, slightly coral blush. It looks extremely natural and flawless. Hope you guys are enjoying your Friday afternoon and are excited for the weekend.

Michele, I heart you.

I've always dreamt of owning a Michele watch. I think they are beautiful, elegant, and classy. Especially the  Deco model. When I saw this lovely shade of Blue, I literally did a Happy Dance at the jewelry counter. The adrenaline I get from finding such a perfect match for me is exhilirating. I know, I throw out alot of adjectives to describe my Love for things but really, the magic I feel from something I love so much is beyond words. I've been wearing it sparingly since I consider this piece special. I can't wait for Spring or Summer to wear this with some jeans and a plain white T.

Delightful

I absolutely love magazines. I look forward to them every month. They're like a special treat and I literally can't wait for my next issue. Something about them is magical. They take me away to a special place where I can dream about beautiful things. I go as far as marking up designer digs that I can only dream of owning some day. I tear out make up looks to try to replicate, product raves so I can try new things out, and outfit posts for inspiration. I've gone as far as inserting all my cut outs into a binder to keep things organized and I sort them by category. It sounds crazy now that I'm typing it out, almost OCD but its just one more thing that I really enjoy. I was extremely thrilled last night to have received 3 new subscriptions in my mail box. So my night consisted of flipping through some lovely pages while sippin on some wine.

Green with Envy

I love a pop of color and what better way to introduce a splash of it other than as arm candy. Green is the new trend in handbags. I've never really gravitated towards green but looking at these lovely bags in the color of a Lucky Charm , I must say, with Spring nearby, they're worth a try.

Work/Life Balance

I walked into work this morning asking myself, didn't I just leave this place? Its amazing to me how much time we spend at our jobs. They really do become our second homes but really, they feel like our primary homes.I've always struggled with coming up with the right balance between both, work and personal life. Factoring my commute, once I do get to my cozy casa, I'm lucky if I get some dinner down, maybe watch some tv, log on and before I know it, the tv ends up watching me because I'm too exhausted to turn it off. I wonder, what is a typical night for people (without children) at home on a weekday?

Maybe I should device a schedule for myself? BORING. I don't think I could live my life on auto pilot. I like spontaneity. But how am I ever going to reduce the big mountain of to do's? I am already sleep deprived, caffeine dependant, and malnourished. Must come up with a more efficient approach to this balance I'm seeking.

Katie

Kate Spade makes some very cute accessories. From her handbags, wallets, and jewelry, they're simple yet playful and glamorous at the same time.

I've spotted this Iphone and NOOK covers that are going on my wish list. I die for the the second NOOK cover. How cute is that? Outfits for my devices. I like the idea.

Food for Thought

There comes a point in life when you realize;

Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore....
And who always will.
So don't worry about people from your past,
There's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Like Water for Chocolate

Book Club went down today. We discussed and even watched the Movie, Like Water for Chocolate. I must say, this book and movie were more sexual than I ever anticipated. It was a great love story and the characters will have you either admiring them or hating them. I'm not much of a "traditional" woman by any means but I do respect and admire my Mexican Culture and traditions. Now, will I be making mole from scratch today, or tomorrow...ummm.. probably not. I'd rather dine at a great mexican cuisine restaurant.  Frida anyone?

I love all the characters in my Book Club. Tish gave each one of us a wonderful gift. The writing on our canvas book bags couldn't fit our club better. It makes me want to start crunking the minute I read the words out loud, "I like big books and I cannot lie."

All in all, this was a lovely afternoon. Our next pick is  The Alchemist.

Beachside Lunch

Working five minutes away from The Beach has its perks. Not to mention living in Southern California. Where else do you get 81 degree weather in January? Blessed.

Muji

My final Christmas Present arrived today, finally. My stash was starting to overflow and had no organization rhyme or reason to it. I like to be organized, as much as possible at least. These Muji acrylic drawers are a great inexpensive solution to storing items. You can obviously utilize them for your best needs, in my case, its for my make up hoarding addiction. This way, I will be able to take inventory of what I have and hopefully eliminate making unnecessary purchases of duplicate items. Here's to hoping I can curb my enthusiasm.

Empty Drawers

Happy Drawers

Apocalypse

I'm assuming by now everyone knows or has heard that we are all doomed come Dec 21, 2012 thanks to countless books and Blockbuster Movies about our last days on Earth. The idea of all of us being extinct on one given day sounds absurd but weird enough, if it did happen that way, I think I would feel better about it knowing that no one would be left to mourn the loss of a loved one. I read a pretty exciting book that goes into the History of the Mayan's and the infamous Calendar. Clearly, I don't believe in such hypothesis but I started 2012 thinking about this.... if indeed this was my last year to live, what would I do? The Answer, Everything!!

I've taken off with this mentality and seriously, its how you should live everyday, live it as if it was your last. So, as part of my New Years Resolutions, I will indulge in everything that makes me happy X100.

Now lets see how much money is made throughout the year by countless marketing schemes. I see countless New Years Eve look alike parties going down on Dec 20,2012. Stay tuned and see.
